  1. The advantages according to the authors are as followed. It’s applicability in real life conversations and dialogue. It encourages active listening. Nothing we say is left without a response, especially if  we state our opinions out in a public setting. The model provides us with a way of navigating other peoples ideas and allows us to introduce our ideas and opinions in a more effective manner. The model also makes people care, by providing a reason for arguing the opposition; by stating or implying the oppositions stance. You can’t just say climate change is an issue that must be addressed immediately without first explaining the ignorance that still propagate around the issue. Otherwise why would anyone care? Lastly the model serves as building blocks; if you know the rules, you can break em. Like words in a sentence, they can be used creatively and only serve as a segue in introducing and/or comparing your own ideas, with theirs.
  2. I agree that looking at artwork helps us analyze situations practically. It’s the act of deducing information and interpreting art where it’s applicability shows. With that in mind it’s important to note that a lot of information in life is often revealed to us without context, and it’s our inquiry and observation that helps us gather information and formulate the right questions to learn more about what it is we are confronted with. It’s no different from looking at art. Because even art is presented with little to no context, it’s our jobs as observers to figure out it’s intention; because it too has a story, and developing the most effective questions and deductions can help us conclude those said intentions.

1.According to Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein, writers should use the model of “entering the conversation” in their writing because the templates allow the writer to create such critical thinking arguments and questions that allow them to open a whole new ball game in what can be a proper argument to a certain idea and allow the writer to see not only their perspective but others as well. Throughout the reading, both Graff and Birkenstein start to pose common questions they are asked because of the credibility of the templates. Some said it feels like plagirism and some have said it feels constant and boring. Which caused them to turn the tables on the questions by stating, it shouldn’t be boring if it’s your ideas. This furthers the reason on why writers should use the model of “entering the conversation in their writing.

2.I agree with the smarthistory videos on learning how looking at artwork helps us analyze other situations because like the reading it allows us to use our senses physically as a way to see everything in a different light and interpret its true meaning by using critical thinking and interpretation as a way to extend our thinking palette and to be observant ofd our surrounding like the saying, “there is more that meets the eye.”

  1. According to Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein, they believe that using the “enter dialogue” model in writing has an advantage. Because using the entry dialogue mode can make the argument of your article look clearer, others will clearly understand what you mean, and the argument is your own rather than stolen. This model is an excellent way to improve your writing, making your opinions clearer, and creating better thinking.
  2. From the historical videos of “How Art Can Help You Analyze” and “The Power of Observation”, we can see that learning art can help us improve our analytical capabilities. I agree with this view. Learning art can make our thinking broader and make our vision broader. Sometimes artworks are closely related to everything in our lives, and our perspective will be different.

  1. According to Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein, writers should use the model of “entering the conversation” in our writing because it makes it more clear the argument you are trying to do. These templates are being offered an outline of how to write a well-structured sentence. Most of us normally write an essay with just stating facts and supporting them with evidence however we don’t know how to enter a conversation with other views. It is fine to use these templates in our writing, it’s not plagiarism because it has common words that most writers use and as time goes on we can use them in our way. This will make it easier for the reader to understand the point of view and why is it being made.
  2.  I agree that learning how to look at artwork helps us analyze other situations better. Looking at those little details that can change the entire perspective and message of the artwork. This skill is going to be used in our everyday lives and we are supposed to ask ourselves why is that there, why is it positioned in a certain way, and what is the bigger message. Once we get used to analyzing something and find its meaning it will become easier each time.

The advantages of using the model “Entering the conversation” according to Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein is that it gives writers the ability to agree or disagree on a topic in a more proficient way. In order to be a well expressed writer these templates are very useful and help the writer express their thoughts and views in a argumentative way, so that they can be understood from different perspectives. This model is equipped with many different ways you can enhance your writing skills while incorporating your own opinions and arguments. This template is a great way to help  writers organize their thoughts and articulate the way that they can express themselves.

I agree that the way we look at art can most definitely help us be more analytical.  Art can help stimulate your brain and take you on a imaginative journey while creating your own perspective and meaning of the art. To look at art you have to be critical and observant. The same way you analyze most situations you come across in real life. An artist will convey the meaning of their art to you and you can formulate your own opinions but always keep in mind that their way of expressing themselves can be different from your thoughts of the art.

1. According to Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein, writers should use the model of  “entering the conversation” in the writing. They talked a lot about the advantages of the model. First, after mastering the model, we don’t need to pay too much consciousness to think. it can help us to construct our own writing immediately and also shows some simple but crucial steps for writing. Then the model can be made public to help us state our ideas, to help us avoid answering yes or no challenging questions, and to present more arguments. In addition, the model can be used to enrich the sentence level in our writing and can be extended to any length we need. It can also help us make many challenging actions, help us open the text, and let us have more ideas and arguments to add to the writing. Furthermore, we can also summarize it by converting back and forth between texts based on our requirements. Finally, the model can help us make our writing more original and creative. Once we get used to the model, we will be able to improvise to adapt to new situations and purposes and can help us find other models in our reading.

2. I agree with the idea that learning to look at artwork can help us analyze other situations. I think every coin has two sides, It’s not as simple as it appears. Learning to look at artwork can increase our insight and allow us to discover more details from different perspectives. Moreover, learning to look at artwork can also exercise our critical thinking ability. It enables us to observe and analyze the situation from multiple aspects, understand the feelings the author wants to truly express by combining the background of artwork and more elements, and distinguish the right and wrong of things. It even extends to our lives and our writing. In addition, good insight and critical thinking allow us to quickly identify the author’s purpose in writing and reading the article and what the author wants to reveal. Through a detailed analysis, we can get more information and inspiration, and can quickly write a good article with rich structure and hierarchy. At the same time, good insight can also help us find more problems when reviewing our own articles so that we can correct our mistakes.

Based off the “Entering the Conversation” introduction written by Gerald Graff & Cathy Birkenstein, their whole outlook/idea of the author using a certain format for writing their thoughts and also gravitating the reader by making certain points where, even if it is an opinion or statement that may seem foreign to the reader, they are your thoughts and not just sentences formed to cater to the one reading. As in pages 5-6, using the template had students skeptical due to it potentially impacting their creativity, but the template is just a base of how you’re going to go about your writing. It’s similar to artists who use auto-tune in a sense. Yes, it helps improve the sound of the artist, but also the artist is the one who needs to be molding it into a work of art and perfecting it. At the end, it’s your work and how you put it into play.

“The power to look” and “How art can help you analyze” give great points of how in our own perspectives, we see things very black and white. Our analytical and interpretations of paintings, or situations can tend to be small when in fact a lot more could lie beneath the surface. For example, in “The power to look” a cop/doctor looking at the painting of a train going through a fireplace will be just that. But what else is it? What compelled the artist to draw that? It gives a broader view to the audience and it makes you think it’s more than what the eye sees.

  1. According to Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein, writers should use the model of “entering the conversation” in their writing. The advantage of this model is that it can help people in different fields write and think critically. Excellent academic work is meaningful to talk and connect with other people’s opinions, so the model allows people to state their thoughts and opinions. In addition, respond to the views of others. This model not only does not limit the creativity of the writer but also makes writing more personal. The template is just an introductory learning tool. It will be an instinctive way of writing when people get used to it.

2. I agree with learning to look at artwork helps us analyze other situations. When we learn to observe works of art, it can help us see things from different angles. Moreover, It can make us more sensitive to the surrounding things. On the other hand. Contact description artwork can improve our communication skills. Strong communication skills can help us solve many problems in work or life. The difficulty of observing and describing works of art is analyzing and imagining the details and discovering things invisible to others. Although it is difficult, it can exercise our insight. From this, we can understand that the influence of art on people is huge.

  1. According to Gerald and Cathy writers should use the model of “ entering the conversation “ in their writing because it provides a clear understanding of the point their trying to make. In the text “ State your own ideas as a response to others “ it states that “ If your own argument does identify the “ they say “ that you’re responding to, it probably won’t make sense.” I agree with this because your writing should clearly state what you’re talking about and why you’re talking about it and to do this you must include “ they say , I say” to further support your writing.  Advantages that come from this is that it will allow you to avoid a simple yes or no response and present a strong augment
  2. I agree with artwork helping us analyze other situations. Artwork is more than just looking at a picture. You have to understand and know what the picture story is and what it’s telling you. Artwork forces people to think critically to try and understand what is the purpose is. Artwork relates to real life situations because just like an artwork where you have to look for details to find the story behind it, in real life crime scenes workers have to look for details/clues to help them find what is the story there. It all relates.

  1. According to Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein in the book “They Say/ I Say” writers should use the model of “entering the conversation” in their writing because it allows the writers to clearly state the reason for establishing the writing and have broader view on the topic they are writing. If the writers simply state their point of view, the readers will not know why this writing is being made, or who this writing is trying to challenge or support, therefore loses the meaning of reading it in the first place.  Also, by engaging with other people’s argument, the writers maybe able to encounter with the ideas they never thought of before, which they could incorporate into the writing and make it more appealing to the readers.

2. I agree with the idea that learning to look at artwork help us analyze other situations because often times the artwork include message or idea that are not clearly visible since it is not written with words, but when we analyze it closely we can find meanings within the object or little details. Some art may illustrate abnormal situation to help us find out what is strange about it exactly, and allow us to articulate what the problem within the situation in case of emergency or accident. It is really important to notice those small features because not everyone or everything explain themselves with directly. For example, if a friend gets injured from playing sports, he or she might say they are fine because they don’t want to make a big deal out of it. However, if I watch them closely and notice that they are dragging their feet while walking or they are walking slower than usual, I know that I need to take them to a hospital or nursing office. By being able to identify the small details within the artwork, I will also be able to identify the details within a person’s action or voice, which maybe crucial sometimes.
