1.The significance of Du Bois calls to the “sorrow songs” to African-American history and culture is the African-Americans express their happiness, sadness, and fear while struggling in their day to day basis in the field during the slavery era. In the reading, Du Bois states,” I have said the slave spoke to the world.” which I agree with because they’re were surrounded by earth nature, so they’ll able to compare or have similarities to their lives. With the sorrows songs, they had hope and faith to have freedom one these days while working in the fields, but years go by, the songs the African-Americans sang from the bottom of their hearts neglected and forgotten.

2.  the song that I think significant in my opinion is “My way is cloudy” by Dinwiddie colored quartet because the slave believe God would help them bring down the angels to yearned to be set free physically and spiritually and have freedom

In the podcast “the way of hearing” power Damon Krukowski, I agree with what he says about the algorithm, how they know what we comfortable with listening to music and recommended to us another song or band that is similar and not letting us to explore more of the music industry that we might like also. The internet is accessible for everyone to use and stream music or read books online like audibles making people not go out to the bookstore to purchase books or CDs.

I agree with Krukowski about the digital microphones in our phones and how the frequency affects our communication with far or close distance. Krukowski said, “it’s not the because the microphone in it hasn’t gotten worse. It’s the miniature mics in the phones that are sensitive than analog phones.” which is It’s limited, taking data to compare to analog telephones they transmit the full range. It’s possible over phones with digital sounds with being intimacies because you can express your emotion and change your voice tone.

The New York Times article” how A.S.M.R became a sensation” can be used to triggers people, making them feel a tingling by looking at a video only showing minimal effort for a few minutes and how the digital devices capture the sounds the creator uses objects around them, tapping their fingers on the item or whispering, which either comfort the person or discomfort with the sounds. I like a.s.m.r. I find it exciting, but I like and dislike it because there are multiple things you can do is either playing with slime or tapping with I want, then the others which are chewing/ eating it makes me uncomfortable.

With this podcast, I can relate so much because I take transportation to go to school or go to places in the city with friends or family, and we hear car noises from people’s conversations with other people or just on the phone. Sometimes I’m not too fond of the noise around me when I’m going somewhere, or only in my house; there will be times when my neighborhood would be silent, and I like it, but there were times when the weekend came people would be yelling or fighting. Cops or fire trucks sirenes. When Krukowski and his guest mention earbuds, they were stating, “In Tokyo, people on crowded train pretend they’re asleep to avoid eye contact. but here with all these headphones, it’s like were avoiding ear contact.” which I agree because when going to the train to LaGuardia back then or going to NYC I would put on my headphones and ignore my surrounding and be in my personal bubble sometimes I don’t like hearing people conversation or strangers talking to me to ask a question.

I agree with Berger’s argument about racial etiquette because he was aware of what was going on during the civil rights era. The black folks were victims during a peaceful movement. They were protecting themselves from getting hit or killed. The media platform gives white audiences complimentary viewing of what’s going with the situation and not sugar-coating it. It brings people together as a community. For example, what happens to George Floyd being murdered by the officer began the black lives matter movement bringing everyone together.

The video of the “ways of seeing, episode 2, “John Berger argues “naked is to be oneself to be nude is to be seen naked by others and yet not recognized for oneself,” which is how women in the renaissance were looked as objects to please men during the 14th-17th century. As of today, women don’t have much control over their images on social media one has to, in a certain way to look interested/appealing, others might freely look at what they feel. In the video, the women argue,” I am a beautiful object. If not, I have to do something,” which I agree because men might not like what they see and lose interest. We women would try to fix the problem like what Berger said at the beginning of the video,” thus incidentally repeating the biblical example.” with adam and eve, they saw each other naked when they ate the apple. But I also have mixed feelings about it, like why can’t men appreciate the hard work women put out their image to show that they can also look professional and presentable.

  1. According to Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstien, writers should use the model of “entering the conversation” in their writing because it can help improve their ideas from learning from one perspective example in a well mannered organized structure writing piece. It can also enhance our critical thinking writing format without unnecessary questions. The advantage of the models is they allowed us to focus on an engaging debates to learn and respond to the argument while being creative in one’s idea in writing or a conservation

2. I agree with the videos ” The power to look” and “How art can help you analyze” because looking at artwork can help us elaborate and learn their stories and their meanings from the artist’s perspective and look differently. They can also help us improve in being detail-oriented and involved in communicating with other people in the work field, as a police officer and doctors or nurses, to look closely at more information and analyze the challenging situation daily. According to “The power to look,” it states that …….” the artist positions us about the subject can help us think more deeply about social position, setting and any gender.” In my opinion, looking at artwork can improve our mind, identify an object, and be observant around us in any way.
